Scott Miller came to Lycoming College in 1991, at a time when the team had to replace a cornerback named Rick Bealer, who finished his career second in NCAA Division III history in interceptions. The Shippenville, Pa., native went on to leave his own legacy in the department, and in 1993, he tied for the national lead in the category, picking off nine passes. That effort helped him earn Second Team Associated Press Little All-America and Third Team Champion USA/SID All-American honors. As a senior, he again led the team in interceptions with six, helping him earn Third Team Champion USA All-American honors again. During his career, Miller helped the team to a 29-10 overall record while helping the team win two MAC titles (1991, '92) and make two appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. A two-time First Team All-MAC selection, Miller's 17 career interceptions are fourth in school history and his 23 pass breakups are ninth. A science teacher at Union Area High School, he has also served as the defensive backs and wide receivers coach at Clarion Area High School since 2007 under Coach Larry Wiser, Lycoming assistant head coach Steve Wiser's brother. In his spare time, Miller enjoys to fish and hunt. He and his wife, Laura (Soney) '95 have two sons, Brendan and Spencer. Laura's father, Joe, is a 1972 graduate of Lycoming.
