BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior
Maverick Stenger (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) and senior
Kaylee Long (Milton, Pa./Milton) paced the Lycoming College cross country teams at the Paul Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5.
Long placed 129
th out of a field of 372 runners to lead the women's team to a 41
st-place finish, posting a time of 24:38.4.
Freshman
Claire Shaffer (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) finished second on the team with a run of 28:53.5, while freshman
Tamara Hess (Canton, Pa./Canton) came in one slot behind her by cutting two minutes off her career-best time with a 28:55.8. Senior
Amanda Goulden (Warton, N.J./Morris Hills) posted a time of 29:57.0, surpassing her best 6K time of the season by two minutes to finish 334
th. Junior
Kayla Nowak (Newtown,Conn./ Newtown) had a 34:46.9 and freshman
Kaitlyn Welch (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) rounded out the group by slicing a minute off her previous season-best time, finishing in 36:20.8.
Stenger led the men's team in the second straight 8K race with a 254
th-place finish with a time of 31:06.7 in a field of 326.
Sophomore
Logan Franquet (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) set a career-best mark for the second straight race, finishing in 31:58.2, placing 275th. Senior
Daniel Moses (Cape May, N.J./Wildwood Catholic) came in behind him at 279
th with a time of 32.14.
Sophomore
Diego Pallares (Cicero, Ill./Bulls College Prep) was fourth on the team with a run of 34.11.3 to place 300
th. Junior
Hunter Jackson (Warriors Mark, Pa./Tyrone Area) bested his previous 8K time by 14 seconds, finishing in 34:44.9 and junior
Guillermo Quintero (Austin, Texas/KIPP Austin) had a time of 35:24.2. Sophomore
Zeb Harshbarger (Reedsville, Pa./Mifflin County) dropped one minute off his previous 8K, finishing in 36:45.7 and freshman
Chris Alvarado (San Antonio, Texas/KIPP San Antonio) rounded out the group in 43:04.3.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12, when they compete in the DeSales Invitational, with the men's race starting at 10:30 a.m., and the women at 11:20 a.m.
