WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College cross country team continues their journey into the postseason as it is set to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
The women's 6K race will get underway at 11 a.m., with the men's 8K to follow at noon. The regional will take place at a familiar course for the Warriors, having previously ran at Big Spring High School during the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on Sept. 27. Both programs will compete against over two dozen schools.
The women's team will come in after finishing ninth at the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1. The Warriors were led by junior Sydney Taylor (Troy, Pa. / Troy), who finished in 63rd place with a time of 26:24.38, while fellow junior Ella Scott (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) took 78th, running a time of 27:51.52.
Juniors Miya Knippenburg (Ellicott City, Md. / Mount Hebron) and Anna Kauffman (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley), as well as first years Emma Ashfield (Tamaqua, Pa. / Marian Catholic) and Caitlyn Albertson (Clearfield, Pa. / Clearfield Area) all set personal bests in the 6K at the Landmark Conference meet, running times of 29:08.42, 29:21.42, 30:12.21, and 34:46.98, respectively.
On the men's side, Kenneth Draper(Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) finished in 55th at a season-best time of 27:57.59 and first year Jacob Carr (Towanda, Pa. / Towanda Area) ran a personal-best 30:39.81 for 89th place. Junior Depesh Rai (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro) also set a personal best in the 8K at the meet, finishing in 43:32.68.
Last season, the Warriors women's team finished 22nd, including a top-40 finish from Katryn Yocum. Meanwhile, Taylor (26:02.3), Scott (26:11.1), and Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) at 27:39.5 all set personal 6K bests at the regional meet.
For the men, the squad finished 27th a season ago, with Draper being the Warriors' top finisher at 128th, albeit with a personal best of 29:40.6 in the 8K. Junior Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del. / Polytech), posted a time of 29:40.6to set PR in the process as well.
