WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After helping the Lycoming College men's swimming team to a 57-49 victory over Moravian University, first-year Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) received the Landmark Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week award, the conference announced on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
On Saturday, Feb. 1, Martinez earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.69. Martinez also competed in the 200-yard medley relay (1:59.29) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:46.28), helping the men contribute 22 points to the team score.
Throughout the season, Martinez also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle in meets against King's College (2:00.51) and Elizabethtown (1:55.50). He secured a first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle against Lebanon Valley (4:42.59), the 500-yard freestyle against Elizabethtown (5:21.27) and the 800-meter freestyle in a tri-meet against Susquehanna and Juniata (10:00.42).
Martinez has secured personal-best times in the 1650-yard freestyle (19:13.28), the 50-yard freestyle (23.47) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:32.28) this year.
Martinez is Lycoming's first Landmark Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week since Eliot Keith earned the award on Feb. 6, 2024.
The Warriors travel to Loyola University in Baltimore, Md., for the four-day Landmark Conference Championship, which will begin on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m.
