WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Lycoming College men's and women's swimming teams were each selected to finish eighth at the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, as announced by the conference on Friday, Feb. 6.
The Landmark Championships are scheduled for Feb. 12-15, at the Mangione Aquatic Center at Loyola University in Baltimore, Md. Tickets are available on a per-day basis at the gate or may be purchased in advance through Hometown Ticketing.
The Warriors are seeking to improve from the 2025 Championships, when the men's team took ninth in the conference and the women finished 10th.
On the men's side, sophomore Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) has led the way with a strong year in the intermediate distance races, winning seven races this season, including a victory in the 500-yard freestyle in the Warriors final meet of the regular season at Moravian. He will be returning to the pool where he set a personal best in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2025 Landmark Championships, finishing 11th at 1:50.04, and 500 free, where he clocked in at 5:04.79 and finished 16th.
Junior Drew Degnan has also turned in a strong season, primarily competing in the butterfly and winning four races. He returns to the site where he set personal bests in the 100-yard freestyle (50.94) and 100-yard butterfly (56.43) at the 2025 Landmark Conference Championships.
On the women's side, junior sprinter Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) posted a victory in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.17) in Lycoming's final home meet of the season and a pair of runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle this season. Fox posted a 17th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at last year's Landmark Championships, finishing in 2:08.96.
Senior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa. / York Suburban) will lead a trio of Warrior seniors closing out their careers at the meet. In mid-to-long distance events, Lonergan has tallied a half-dozen third-place finishes this year, plus a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:14.58) in the Warriors' final home meet. She returns to the pool where she shaved over a minute off her personal best in the 1650-yard freestyle last season, finishing in 18th at 20:22.70.
The Lycoming swimmers are finishing up their second season under head coach Kelly Essler.
