BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Sophomore Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Moreland) picked up a victory in the 500-yard freestyle to highlight a double-dual meet for the Lycoming College swim team against Moravian University and Susquehanna University on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Memorial Pool.
In the final meet of the regular season, Martinez turned in a time of 5:17.73 in his winning event, leading wire-to-wire as he won by over five-and-a-half seconds, picking up his seventh victory of the season.
A strong showing was also put up by junior Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira), who took second in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:18.69, and first-year Dominic De Mar (Phoenix, Ariz. / Horizon), who took third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a mark of 11:38.51.
On the women's side, senior Megan Klansek (Hanover, Pa. / Southwestern) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29:31, finishing less than 1/100th of a second out of the runner-up spot. Junior Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) also finished third in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:02.33. Finally, senior Anasten Holbrook (Parker, Colo. / Colorado Early Colleges-Douglas County) placed third in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:45.79.
With the regular season complete, the Warriors will enter their taper before for the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held from Feb. 12-15 at Loyola University in Baltimore, Md.
