GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman
Callan Jordan (Hurley, N.Y./Western Academy of Beijing) won one individual event and finished second in another to lead the Lycoming College swim teams on Saturday, Jan. 16, in a Middle Atlantic Conference dual with Arcadia University, as Arcadia posted a close 114-90 win on the men's side and a 134-71 win on the women's side.
Jordan led the men's team, which fell to 2-5 overall, with a win in the 100-yard backstroke (55.78) and a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.39). Sophomore
Andrew Canavan (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) also swam well individually, posting second-place finishes in the 500- (5:27.93) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:26.53).
The Warrior men won three individual events and a relay, while Arcadia was able to win six and a relay as it improved to 7-2 on the season.
Senior
Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) posted a time of 51.11 to win the 100-yard freestyle and senior
Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran) came away with a narrow victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a pool-record time of 53.79.
The Warrior men opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, with Jordan, senior
Trevor Endler (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), Thomas and Apostolu, notched a time of 1:41.45.
On the women's side, senior
Jilly Flynn (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) led the Warriors (3-4 overall), as she posted a decisive win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.64. Arcadia (8-1 overall) won nine of the 11 events.
Senior
Felicia Sloyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:47.28), freshman
Emilie Kramer (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.95), and freshman
Billie Strickler (Cogan Station, Pa./St. John Neumann) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.78).
The Warrior women also opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, with Sloyer, Kramer, Flynn and Strickler posting a time of 1:58.43.
The Warriors will be back in the pool next Saturday, Jan. 23, when they head to the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center for a 2 p.m. double-dual meet against King's (Pa.) and FDU-Florham.
