Warriors finish strong at Landmark Championships

BALTIMORE, Md. — Seven Warriors reached the consolation finals of their respective events and numerous season and personal bests were set as the Lycoming College men's and women's swimming team closed out their 2025-26 campaign on the final day of the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Sunday, Feb. 15, at the Mangione Aquatic Center.

The men's team finished the meet in eighth place with 109 points, while the women finished in ninth with 100 points, improving both their placing and point totals after the men's team finished ninth and the women 10th in 2025.

In the morning, junior Drew Degnan (Elmira, N.Y. / Elmira) put forth a career effort in the 200-yard butterfly prelims, knocking over four seconds off his personal best with a 2:08.61, qualifying in 12th for the consolation final. Also on the men's side, first year Jason Ricci (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill) also shattered his personal best in the 200 backstroke, shaving nearly three-and-a-half seconds to notch a 2:09.92 mark and a 16th-place finish.

On the women's side, first-year Riley Pool (Pickerington, Ohio / Canal Winchester) and senior Anasten Holbrook (Douglas, Colo. / Colorado Early Colleges-Douglas County) snagged the two spots in the 200-yard backstroke finals, with Pool notching a season-best 2:36.28 and Holbrook a career-best 2:37.06.

In the finals, Degnan finished 12th in the 200 butterfly with another personal best at 2:07.84 and Ricci finished 16th, trimming another two seconds off his personal best with a new low of 2:07.92. In the women's edition, Pool finished in 14th at 2:35.93 and Holbrook 16th at and 2:41.87, with Pool lowering her season-best time for the second time in the day.

In addition, a trio of swimmers competed in the 1,650-yard freestyle. For the men, sophomore Sean Martinez (Willow Grove, Upper Moreland) took 14th with a new personal best of 18:19.90, and first-year Dominic De Mar (Phoenix, Ariz. / Horizon) putting up a personal best of his own at 18:31.54 to take 16th, shaving more than 22 seconds off his previous mark. For the women, senior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa. / York Suburban) clocked a 20:51.55 in her final collegiate race, finishing in 16th.

The Warriors closed the meet with the 400-yard freestyle relay. For the men, Degnan, Martinez, Ricci, and junior Will Eberz (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) finished with a mark of 3:32.89 for an eighth-place finish, while the women's lineup of first year Vanessa Cook (Seekonk, Mass./ Seekonk), junior Madison Robbins (Wellsboro, Pa. / Wellsboro), first year Elizabeth Eberz (Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg), and Klansek closed the meet with a 4:15.15 mark and ninth-place finish.

The final results of the meet saw Catholic win their 10th consecutive league championship on the men's side with 877.5 points. Scranton took second with 770 points, followed by Drew (720), Susquehanna (304.5), Elizabethtown (214), Wilkes (185), Juniata (150), Lycoming (109), Moravian (99), and Goucher (64).

For the women, Scranton roared back to win their third consectuive championship in a meet that wasn't decided until the final race, earning 887 points, with Catholic close behind at 873. Drew (425), Susquehanna (348.5), Juniata (299.5), Elizabethtown (242), Wilkes (211), Moravian (122), Lycoming (100), and Goucher (63) rounded out the scoring.
