WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior
Jess Wimmer (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) won the 100-yard freestyle and both of her relay races to help the Lycoming College women's swim team to a season-opening 124-81 win over Albright in Middle Atlantic Conference action at Lamade Gym Natatorium on Saturday morning, Oct. 24. Albright's men's swim team won eight of 11 races to notch a 128-77 win in the season-opener.

Wimmer helped pace the women's swim team by posting a time of 1:00.41 to win the 100-yard freestyle while she also served as the anchor of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (2:01.03) and the leadoff leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:51.27).

The win was Lycoming's first over Albright since a 108-96 win in 2009-10 and the first in a regular-format meet since a 108-97 win in 1998.

The Warriors (1-0 overall) kicked off the meet with the win in the 200-yard medley relay, as senior
Felicia Sloyer (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen), senior
Jilly Flynn (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), freshman
Scarlet Ojeda (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) and Wimmer teamed for the win.

The Lions (0-1 overall) won the next two races before junior
Morgan Black (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) kicking off a run of four wins in the next five races with a time of 27.69. Freshman
Emilie Kramer (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) followed with a win in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:25.08. After Wimmer's win in the 100-yard freestyle, Sloyer posted a win in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.12).

Flynn added one more win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:13.42, as Lycoming notched a 1-2-3 sweep in the race, as Kramer notched  a time of 1:15.62 to take second and sophomore
Nina McGahey (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) took third in 1:19.96.

The team capped the meet with a win in the freestyle relay, with Wimmer, Black, Ojeda and Kramer combining to earn the win.

On the men's side, the team was led by freshman
Callan Jordan (Hurley, N.Y./Western Academy of Beijing) and senior
Josh Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind./Concordia Lutheran), who each posted an individual win and helped the 200-yard medley team to a win.

The Warriors (0-1 overall) kicked off the meet with the 200-yard medley relay win, with Jordan leading off the race before senior
Trevor Endler (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), Thomas and senior
Dan Apostolu (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) dove into the pool and posted a time of 1:40.37.

Thomas notched a time of 55.27 to win the 100-yard butterfly and Jordan added time of 55.82 to take the 100-yard backstroke. Sophomore
Andrew Canavan (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) finished second in the backstroke, notching a time of 58.85.

The team also had a few close calls, with Apostolu just getting touched out by .08 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and Endler falling by .48 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Lions improved to 1-0.

The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Oct. 31, when they head to Hood for another MAC meet at 2 p.m.
