WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Freshman Mike Puchalski (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) posted a 27:40 on a flood-shortened course at Kirby Park, placing third at the Colonel Classic on Saturday to lead the Lycoming College men’s cross country team to a sixth place finish out of ten teams. On the women’s side, sophomore Michelle Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg) finished fourth with a time of 23:04 on a 3.5 mile course.
On the 4.8-mile course, senior Jake Lewis (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway Regional) also had a good day for the Warrior men, running a 29:10 and placing 20th for the Warriors. Junior Robert Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) ran a 31:11 and finished 32nd, Senior Alex Beattie (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) ran a 33:20 and finished 43rd, senior Jordan Baker (St. Mary's, Pa./Home-schooled) ran a 34:29 and finished 49th, and senior Patrick Welteroth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) rounded out the men’s crew with a time of 46:37 to finish 58th.
On the women’s side, Herman was barely beaten out for third in the last 200 meters. Freshman Kerri Kearney (Gardners, Pa./Bermudian Springs) placed 32nd with a time of 31:06.
The Warriors get back in action on Saturday, Oct. 9 when it heads to Center Valley, Pa. for the DeSales University Invitaional.
