LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Senior Katryn Yocum (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) placed 2nd out of 145 runners with a time of 23:38.4 to lead the Lycoming College women's cross country team to an 11th-place finish at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday morning, Sept. 28.
Yocum finished 26 seconds after the first-place finisher from Walsh University, Aeryn Walters, on the 6K course.
Finishing second for the Warriors, sophomore Ella Scott (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) crossed the finish line at 26:38.4 in 52nd place. Sophomore Sydney Taylor (Troy, Pa. / Troy) finished 75th with a time of 27:33.9 and was followed by senior Maddy O'Connor (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), who placed 78th with a personal-best time of 27:38:8.
Sophomore Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area), who finished fifth for the Warriors and 116th in the race, notched a time of 30:10.9, and sophomore Miya Knippenberg (Ellicott City, Md. / Mount Hebron) followed in 32:56.9.
Senior Isabella Fave (Middleburg, Pa. / Midd-West) (35:12.9; 134th), first-year Sydney Cox (Felton, Del. / Lake Forest) (36:07.0; 136th), and sophomore Meghan Farr (Sellersville, Pa. / Pennridge) (36:34.1; 137th) rounded out the women's team.
In the men's race, junior Kenneth Draper (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) led the Warriors with a time of 28:58.6, which placed him 66th in the field of 195 runners on the 8K course.
Sophomore David Boring (Montoursville, Pa. / Home-schooled) finished 146th (32:10.0) and was followed by sophomores Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del / Polytech) (34:24.0) and Cael Owen (Gillett, Pa. / Horseheads (N.Y.)) (35:00.3) in 170th and 171st respectively.
Senior Sean McKenna (Campbell, N.Y. / Campbell-Savona) (37:10.7), sophomore Depesh Rai (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro) (46:33.6), first-year Aidan Rozetar (Shoemakersville, Pa. / Hamburg Area) (47:32.6), and sophomore Thomas Anderson (Wenonah, N.J. / Deptford Township) (47:46.2) rounded out the men's team. The men's team finished in 18th place.
The Warriors will head to the DeSales Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 12, for a 10:30 a.m. start to the 8K men's race and an 11:20 a.m. start for the women's 6K race.
