Brought named Most Outstanding Female Athlete

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After setting a pool record, a school record and earning all-conference accolades in two different events, Lycoming College women's swimmer senior Cathryn Brought (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area) was named the Lycoming College Most Outstanding Female Athlete at the Senior Athlete Celebration & Athletics Recognition Banquet on Wednesday night, May 8.

Brought was the Landmark Conference runner-up in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles setting the school-record in the 100-yard freestyle at 53.58 and earning Second Team All-Landmark honors in both events. She had a hand in 138 of women swimming's team's 171 points at the championships, helping the Warriors finish sixth in 10-team field. For good measure, she also set the pool record in the 100-yard individual medley at 1:02.94 against Penn State Altoona.

Showing what a versatile athlete that she is, Cathryn joined the softball team this spring to help the team's pitching depth event though she hadn't pitched since high school, appearing in seven games and striking out nine for the team.
