LEBANON, Pa. - Senior Katryn Yocum (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) became the first runner in program history to earn four all-conference honors in a career to lead the Lycoming College women's cross country team to an eighth-place team finish, after she finished 12th out of 105 runners on the 6K course at the Landmark Conference Championships at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Saturday morning, Nov. 2.
Less than two minutes after the first-place finisher, Yocum finished the race with a time of 23:16.75, to earn Second Team All-Landmark Conference honors after she was an honorable mention all-conference pick as a junior. Yocum also earned two All-MAC honors in her first two years, earning Second Team All-MAC honors as a first-year and third-team honors as a sophomore.
Four Warrior women set personal bests at the Landmark Conference Championships, including sophomores Sydney Taylor (Troy, Pa. / Troy) and Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area), who finished second and fourth for the Lycoming women. Taylor placed 69th on the field with a time of 26:44.27, and Fox notched a 28:06.45 time with an 89th-place ranking on the field.
First-year Jerilynn Aguilar (Chicago, Ill. / ITW Speer) (32:36.44) and sophomore Meghan Farr (Sellersville, Pa. / Pennridge) (34:55.47) also posted personal bests.
Sophomore Ella Scott (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) took third on the team with a 26:45.50 to take 72nd overall. Trailing behind Fox, senior Maddy O'Connor (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) finished with a time of 29:09.88, positioning her fourth among the Warriors and 95th in the race. Sophomore Miya Knippenberg (Ellicott City, Md. / Mount Hebron) (33:35.94) and senior Isabella Fave (Middleburg, Pa. / Midd-West) (37:10.97) rounded out the Warrior women.
Junior Kenneth Draper (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) led the Warrior men on the 8K course with a career-best time of 27:39.7, which placed him 51st out of 117 runners.
Sophomore Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del / Polytech) finished second for the Warrior men and 90th on the course with a personal-best time of 30:33.3. Following close behind Rosan, sophomores Connor Cornelius (Linden, Pa. / Jersey Shore) (31:27.4) and David Boring (Montoursville, Pa. / Home-schooled) (31:39.4) finished within twenty seconds of each other, placing in 96th and 98th place, respectively, also posting personal bests.
Finishing back-to-back, first-year Samuel Jenkins (Williamsport, Pa. / Home-schooled) ran a personal-bests 33:03.6 and sophomore Cael Owen (Gillett, Pa. / Horseheads (N.Y.)) finished in 33:15.4.
Sophomore Thomas Anderson (Wenonah, N.J. / Deptford Township) (42:18.59), sophomore Depesh Rai (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro) (42:57.51), and first-year Aidan Rozetar (Shoemakersville, Pa. / Hamburg Area) (44:11.97) rounded out the men's team. Rozetar and Anderson also had personal bests.
The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional competition will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Lock Haven, Pa. The women will compete at 11 a.m., followed by the men at 12 p.m.
