LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Senior Katryn Yocum (Carlisle, Pa. / Boiling Springs) surpassed her own Lycoming College women's cross country program record with a 6K time of 22:34.4 and finished 39th, the best finish in program history at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet in Lock Haven, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 16, to highlight a day where every runner notched a season-best.
Yocum finished the 6K race with a time of 22:34.4, which placed her 39th in a field of 218 runners, as she beat the program record of 22:52.4. She finished the meet a minute-and-a-half after the regional champion, Claire Anderson from Washington & Jefferson.
This season, Yocum became the first runner in program history to earn four all-conference honors in a career after she finished 12th in the Landmark Conference Championships, earning Second Team All-Conference honors. She previously earned honorable mention all-conference recognition as a junior and All-MAC honors in her first two years.
All of Lycoming's runners in the women's 6K race set personal-best times at Lock Haven. Finishing second for the Warrior women, sophomore Sydney Taylor (Troy, Pa. / Troy) crossed the finish line at 26:02.3 in 147th place, and sophomore Ella Scott (Bethlehem, Pa. / Liberty) followed in 153rd place with a time of 26:11.1.
Senior Maddy O'Connor (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), who finished fourth for the Warriors and 170th in the race, notching a time of 26:55.9, and sophomore Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) trailed after with a time of 27:39.5 and an 181st place finish.
Sophomore Miya Knippenberg (Ellicott City, Md. / Mount Hebron) (30:30.3) and first-year Jerilynn Aguilar (Chicago, Ill. / ITW Speer) (31:49.8) rounded out the women's team and each posted personal-record runs to end the 2024 season. The women's team placed 22nd out of 30 teams in the regional meet.
In the men's race, junior Kenneth Draper (Hughesville, Pa. / Hughesville) led the Warriors with a time of 27:26.6, which placed him 128th in the field of 216 runners on the 8K course. Following Draper's lead, sophomore Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del / Polytech) finished second for the Warriors and 173rd on the field with a time of 29:40.4.
Sophomore David Boring (Montoursville, Pa. / Home-schooled) (31:29.3), sophomore Cael Owen (Gillett, Pa. / Horseheads (N.Y.)) (32:08.7), and first-year Samuel Jenkins (Williamsport, Pa. / Home-schooled) (32:26.7) crossed the finish line within a minute of each other, placing 194th, 199th, and 201st respectively, as Boring and Jenkins had personal-bests and Owen a season-best.
Senior Sean McKenna (Campbell, N.Y. / Campbell-Savona) (34:12.4) and first-year Aidan Rozetar (Shoemakersville, Pa. / Hamburg Area) (40:01.9) rounded out the men's team. The men's team finished in 27th place at the event.
