Mariah Rovenolt (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run), junior
Ali Clemons (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area), junior
Madisyn Neal (Roaring Branch, Pa./Canton), sophomore
Madeline O'Connor (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and sophomore
Katryn Yocum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) - were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women's Cross Country Team, the organization announced on Wednesday, May 31.
The CSC nominates the nation's top student-athletes, recognized for their performance in competition and in the classroom. Academic All-District selections will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. First, second, and third team selections will be announced on June 28. Nominees must maintain a 3.50 GPA and must have played in half of their contests and be a major contributor to the program.
A Spanish major, Rovenolt ran a career-best time of 34:28.5 at the MAC Championships where she placed 132
nd before breaking that time at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, placing 204
th with a 34:27.5.
Clemons, helping to lead the women's team all season with two top-50 finishes, ran a season-best 26:29.30 at the Wilkes University Blue and Gold Invitational, where she placed 11
th. The cell and molecular biology major placed in the top-100 at the MAC Championships, finishing 85
th with a 27:04.6 and placed in the top-175 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, running a final 27:07.4 for 154
th.
Running a season-best 28:18.6 at the Lock Haven invitational, Neal followed that with a 106
th-place finish at the MAC Championships with a final 28:28.5 time. The comprehensive biology major finished 195
th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals with a 31:24.7.
O'Connor ran a season-best 31:25.2 at the MAC Championships, placing 124
th before the psychology major with a secondary education certification finished 196
th at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, running a 31:31.3.
Yocum led the team in 2022, finishing first in on the team at all races this year. The gender sexuality women's study and Spanish major earned her second consecutive All-MAC honors, named to the third team, as she ran a career-best 23.57.7 for a 22
nd-place finish at the MAC Championships. She was even better at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, as she ran a 23.49.7 for a 58
th-place finish, the program's best finish ever at the regional meet and the second-fastest time in the program's history, just a second off the school record.
