Wilke named Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After making 10 saves in a 1-0-1 week to keep the Lycoming College men's soccer team at the top of the Landmark Conference standings, senior goalkeeper Nick Wilke (Mercerville, N.J./Notre Dame) was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday, Oct. 16.

Wilke started the week with his eighth shutout of the year, tied for fourth-most in Division III, with a 3-0 shutdown of Juniata, as he made two saves. He followed that with eight saves in a 1-1 draw with Catholic in a showdown of the top two teams in the Landmark Conference standings.

For the week, Wilke had a .909 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.

Wilke has started all 15 games this season and played all 90 minutes in 13 of them. He is second in the conference in goals-against average (0.88) and save percentage (.812).

Lycoming men's soccer has had back-to-back players named Defensive Athlete of the Week. Senior Brayden Wise (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) received the recognition on Oct. 9.

The Warriors are back on the field Tuesday, Oct. 17 against Wilkes at 7 p.m., at UPMC Field.
