Warriors draw with Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A first-half goal off a corner from first-year Xavier Dandridge (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) helped the Lycoming College men's soccer team earn a point in its Landmark Conference-opener, earning a 1-1 draw with two-time defending conference champions, The Catholic University of America, on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 27, at Carlini Field.

Senior Thomas Geyer set up the goal in the 31st minute with a corner into the box that found Dandridge's head before the ball flew into the right corner of the net, giving Lycoming (3-2-3 overall, 0-0-1 Landmark) a lead it held for the next 50 minutes before Seth Michalak tied the score in the 80th minute with the Cardinals' lone goal.

Sophomore Jace Bennett (Falling Waters, W.Va./Spring Mills) had six saves, as Catholic (4-0-4 overall, 0-0-1 Landmark) took 24 shots in the game. Owen Allegro played in net for the Cardinals, facing two shots.

The Warriors step out of conference on Wednesday, Oct. 1, for a 7 p.m. game at Messiah University.
