Booth and Branigan win events on final day at Diamond City

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Senior Jake Booth (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and sophomore Carter Branigan (Lansdowne, Pa./Commonwealth Charter) took home first-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard butterfly, respectively, to lead the Lycoming College men's swim team as it finished sixth out of 10 schools with 622 points at the Diamond City Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center.

Booth, who previously won the 200-yard backstroke at Diamond City in 2019 with a time of 1:58.81, kicked off the morning for the Warriors by clocking in at 1:57.11 to claim the race with a personal-best time.

Branigan's winning time of 1:57.20 in the 200-yard butterfly was a four second drop in time from his previous best this year, while it was also just four-hundredths of a second off his school-record time of 1:57.16 set in February during the MAC Championships.

First-year Noah Vivian (Barto, Pa/Boyertown) took 10th in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.78, and junior Will Marcinkowski (Philadelpha, Pa./LaSalle College) took fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:20.23. In a joint effort by Booth, Branigan, Vivian, and sophomore Eliot Keith (New Ringgold, Pa./Blue Mountain), Lycoming placed sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a 3:24.86 time.

On the women's side, junior Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.43 as the women's swim team placed eighth out of ten schools with 360 points. Her time is the fastest in the MAC this year, edging out Misericordia's Camryn Hubric's time of 54.83.

The Warriors return to the pool on Friday, Dec. 10, as they host Penn State Altoona at 6 p.m. at the Lamade Gym Natatorium.
