Rob Smith (Middleburg, Pa./Selinsgrove) moved into a tie for second in school history with 13 singles wins this year as he was one of four Lycoming College men's tennis players to post a singles win, but the team's rally came up just short, as Mount Aloysius used three doubles wins to edge out Lycoming, 5-4, at Bruce Henry Park in non-conference action on Friday, April 28.

Smith posted a 6-4, 6-0 win over Matt Hample at No. 2 singles to improve to 13-7, as he tied Tony Pollitt for second in school history, as Pollitt went 13-1 in 1961. The win was also Smith's 20
th combined win (13 singles, seven doubles), moving him into a tie for fifth in school history.

Bryce Jones (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area) followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Nick Goldyn at No. 1 singles to improve to 9-10 and 9-9 in dual meets. Jones, who has been the team's No. 1 singles player throughout his four-year career, has nearly doubled his wins total from his previous-best, a five-win campaign in 2015-16.

After Mount Aloysius (9-7 overall) won two singles matches to clinch the match after winning all three doubles matches, senior
Evan Bennetch (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Bible Baptist School) notched a 7-6 (1), 6-3 win over Nick Centar at No. 4 singles. Bennetch improved to 11-8 on the season, which is tied for seventh-most in program history.

Mitch Wheary (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) wrapped up Lycoming's singles wins with a superset tiebreaker win over Trent McErlane at No. 3, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 10-6 for his ninth win of the year.

The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, April 29, when they wrap up the 2016-17 season by facing MAC Commonwealth for Arcadia at 1 p.m.
