Smith reaches milestone at LVC

Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. – Junior Rob Smith (Middleburg, Pa./Selinsgrove) became just the third player in school history to post back-to-back 10-singles win seasons to lead the Lycoming College men's tennis team, as it fell to Lebanon Valley College, 6-3, in MAC Commonwealth action at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Thursday, April 13.

Smith joined all-time wins leader Jason Mifsud (2010-11) and Cody Heffner (2010-11) as the only Warriors in program history to post back-to-back 10-win campaigns, as he notched a 10-8 record as a sophomore before improving to 10-6 this year with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Brent Greco at No. 2 singles.

Senior Bryce Jones (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport), meanwhile, won his career-best sixth match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Nick Jones at No. 1 singles.

In doubles action, Jones and freshman Mitch Wheary (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) notched an 8-6 win over Greco and Reed Morris at No. 1.

The Flying Dutchmen (9-4 overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) swept through the No. 3 to No. 6 singles slots and the No. 2 and 3 doubles slots to earn the match win, though. Lycoming fell to 5-9 overall and 1-3 in the MAC Commonwealth.

The Warriors get back on the court on Tuesday, April 18, when they host Messiah College in another MAC Commonwealth match at 3:30 p.m.
