YORK, Pa. – One relay squad for both the Lycoming College men's and women's swimming teams opened up the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships by earning Honorable Mention All-MAC honors on Thursday night, Feb. 9, at the Graham Aquatic Center.

The Warrior men earned Honorable Mention All-MAC honors by finishing eighth in the 200-yard medley relay, with the group of sophomore
Callan Jordan (Hurley, N.Y./Western Academy of Beijing), freshman
Devyn Goda (Reading, Pa./Reading), freshman
Will Gillespie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and freshman
Theo Gouskos (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) posted a time of 1:39.64, lowering their seed time by half a second.

The Warrior women followed by finishing eighth in the 800-yard freestyle relay to earn honorable mention all-conference honors, with the team of senior
Madison Walmer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), sophomore
Rebecca Donohue (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain), senior
Emily Jacobs (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and senior
Jess Wimmer (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) notching a time of 8:42.44, knocking nearly 13 seconds off its seed time.

The Warrior men finished the first day of the championships in a tie for eighth place with 36 points in the 12-team field, while Widener leads the field with 74 points. The Warrior women finished with 40 points in eighth place, while Messiah leads the field with 80 points.

The MAC Championships continue on Friday at 10 a.m. with the start of preliminary qualifiers in three events before four championships will be contested starting at 6 p.m. at the Graham Aquatic Center.
