The Bowman Watch
As has seemingly been custom for running backs in the
Mike Clark era, senior
Blake Bowman is looking to leave a large impact on the college's record book. Some milestones that Bowman, who set a school single-season record with 18 rushing touchdowns is approaching include:
- 50 rushing yards from becoming 10th running back in school history to reach 2,000 in a career
- 1 touchdown from tying Josh Kleinfelter (2007-10) for fifth in school history with 26 rushing touchdowns
- 1 100-yard rushing game from tying Troy Erdman for fifth in school history with nine
- 85 all-purpose yards from becoming 12th player in program history to post 2,500 in a career
- 3 touchdowns from becoming the fifth Warrior to find the endzone 30 times in a career
Whiteman finds his stride
Senior quarterback
Chase Whiteman has been dependable during his 12 career starts, racking up a resume that is consistently growing in stature. Some of his approaching milestones include:
- 227 yards shy of becoming the 13th quarterback in program history to throw for 2,500 in a career
- 8 completions from reaching the top 15 in program history, where Steve Miller (1967-69) sits with 172
- 59.2 completion percentage is second in program history
- 138.06 passing efficiency currently sits fourth in program history
Sophomore's shine
Sophomore wide receivers
Nick Costello and
Kyle Slivka-Fralin are both featured in the top 10 in the MAC in most receiving categories. The 6-5 Costello, thanks to his first 100-yard game against King's, is fourth in the league with 155 receiving yards and eighth in receptions per game (5.5). Slivka-Fralin, a 5-11 receiver with great hands, is sixth in the league with 115 yards and tied for eighth with 5.5 receptions per game.
Comfort in the pocket
In his last four starts, senior quarterback
Chase Whiteman has hit his stride, completing 75-of-115 passes (65.2 percent) for 1,082 yards and two touchdowns while not being intercepted once. He tossed for more than 300 yards twice, against Delaware Valley and Misericordia in 2015, and added a 259-yard game against King's last week.
Safety
The Warrior defense got out to an auspicious start against King's College in week two, as sophomore
Nick Kovalick tackled Matt Demarco in the end zone on the first offensive play for the Monarchs for the team's first safety since the College at Brockport had a bad snap on a punt fly through the end zone in 2013.
