Warriors head to Delaware Valley for road finale

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Battle-tested and ready, with a combined margin of 15 points in the team's last five games, the Lycoming College football team will head to Delaware Valley on Saturday, Nov. 5, ready for another Middle Atlantic Conference battle at James Work Memorial Stadium.

The Warriors (3-5 overall, 2-5 MAC) are coming off a two-point loss at Wilkes, where the team rushed for a season-high 231 yards, led by 127 yards and two touchdowns from senior Blake Bowman.

The Aggies (6-2 overall, 5-2 MAC) rebounded from a loss at No. 12 Stevenson with a 50-21 win over FDU-Florham in its last outing.

Warrior Notes
• Senior Blake Bowman leads the MAC with 100.1 rushing yards per game, 12 rushing touchdowns and 121.0 all-purpose yards per game.

• Bowman became the second player in school history to post 30 rushing touchdowns in a career with his first of two scores at Wilkes.

• Bowman needs 25 more rushing yards to become the fifth player in school history to post 2,500 in a career.

• Senior Chase Whiteman needs eight more completions to become the 12th player in school history to post 250 in a career.

• Junior Mike Ward is the first Warrior defensive back to post five fumble recoveries in a season.

• Sophomore Dominic Loffredo needs nine more tackles to reach 100 in his career.

MAC leader
Senior Blake Bowman is not just leaving an impact on the Lycoming College record book, he is also making an impact on a conference and national level. His 12 rushing touchdowns leads the MAC and is 14th in Division III, while his 801 rushing yards also lead the league and is 41st in the country. Bowman's average of 121.0 all-purpose yards tops the MAC and is 96th in the country.

Recovery
Junior safety Mike Ward was a part of a turnover in each of the first six games, establishing a new scool-record, while his five fumble recoveries leads the nation. He posted a first-quarter fumble recovery against Susquehanna that led to a Lycoming touchdown. Against King's, he dove for a first-quarter interception that led to another touchdown. He added a fourth-quarter fumble recovery against Albright and he forced a fumble in the first quarter against Misericordia. Ward followed that two fumble recoveries and an interception against Widener. To extend the streak, he picked up another fumble recovery in the second quarter against FDU-Florham. Ward is the first Warrior defensive back to recover five fumbles in a season. He leads the team with 58 tackles and two interceptions.

The Bowman Watch
As has seemingly been custom for running backs in the Mike Clark era, senior Blake Bowman is looking to leave a large impact on the college's record book. Some milestones that Bowman, who set a school single-season record with 18 rushing touchdowns as junior, is approaching include:
- 25 rushing yards from becoming fifth running back in school history to post 2,500 in a career
- 2 100-yard rushing games from tying Josh Kleinfelter for third in school history with 12
- 108 all-purpose yards from tying Steve Verton (1993-96) for 10th in school history with 3,138 in a career
- 2 touchdowns from tying Tim Dumas for second in school history with 35 in a career

A Career Long
Junior Devon Flynn entered the game with Wilkes without a field goal to his credit during 2016. He finished the game with two, including a career-long 41-yarder in the fourth quarter. Flynn's  kick was the 10th-longest in school history and the first 40-yarder for the Warriors since Zack Czap hit a 44-yarder against Widener in 2013.

A Big Boot
Freshman Brandon Miller has gotten out to an impressive start as Lycoming's punter. The Slatington, Pa., native is averaging 41.2 yards through his first 40 punts, which is the second-highest single-season average in program history and sits 16th in Division III. Miller has a 59-yarder to his credit, along with nine inside the 20, three touchbacks and he has forced eight fair catches. The Warriors are netting a MAC-best 36.64 yards per punt, which is 20th-best in Division III.
