Warrior women win first at double dual

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Thanks to three individual event wins by sophomore Emilie Kramer (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro Area), the Lycoming College women's swim team split a double-dual in Middle Atlantic Conference action, defeating Hood, 157-95, and just getting edged out by Misericordia, 130-126, on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12, at Lamade Gym Natatorium. The Lycoming College men's team won two individual races, but fell to Misericordia, 143-108, and Hood, 141-119.
 
Kramer propelled the women's team to its first win of the year, as it improved to 1-4 overall. The sophomore posted a time of 1:11.80 to take the 100-yard breaststroke, the fourth-fastest time in the MAC this year, a time of 2:39.36 to win the 200-yard breaststroke and a time of 1:04.01 to win the 100-yard butterfly.
 
Sophomore Rebecca Donohue (Orwigsburg, Pa./Blue Mountain) also won an individual event for the Warriors, posting a time of 12:20.42 to take the 100-yard freestyle and sophomore Scarlet Ojeda (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:36.06) and 400-yard individual medley (5:20.40).
 
The meet with the Cougars (4-4 overall), who have won 11 straight duals with the Warriors, came down to the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Misericordia edging out the Warriors, 1:45.16-1:47.34, with Kramer, senior Morgan Black (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone), senior Madison Walmer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and junior Brianna Zawadzki (Austin, Texas/Round Rock) making up the Warriors' relay squad.
 
Black also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.79).
 
Hood fell to 1-8 overall.
 
On the men's side, both sophomore Callan Jordan (Hurley, N.Y./Western Academy of Beijing) and freshman Devyn Goda (Reading, Pa./Reading) each posted individual wins, but Misericordia  (5-1 overall) won seven events and Hood (6-3 overall) won four to take the team duals with the Warriors (1-4 overall).
 
Jordan posted a time of 54.37 to win the 100-yard backstroke with the second-fastest time in the MAC this year, while he also finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (23.37). Goda won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.66, beating out Hood's B.J. Daisey. He also took third in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.07.
 
Lycoming opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of junior Andrew Canavan (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell), Goda, freshman Will Gillespie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Theo Gouskos (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) posting a time of 1:43.19, just seven-tenths of a second behind Misericordia.
 
Gillespie posted the third-fastest time in the MAC this year, finishing second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.26 and Canavan took second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.48 and the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.17).
 
The Warriors get back in the pool on Saturday, Nov. 19, when they host Messiah in another MAC dual at 1 p.m. in Lamade Gym Natatorium.
