Collevechio lifts Warriors to win over Devils

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – Senior Zackary Collevechio (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) notched a singles and a doubles win to lift the Lycoming College men's tennis team to its first win of the season, posting a 5-4 non-conference victory at FDU-Florham on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26.
 
Collevechio teamed with sophomore Zachary High (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) to post an 8-1 win over Ryan O'Keefe and Josh Pryor at No. 3 doubles, but FDU-Florham (0-1 overall) won the other two doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
 
In singles play, the Warriors (1-2 overall) came back to post the win by winning the final four bouts, with sophomore Rob Smith (Middleburg, Pa./Selinsgrove) starting the rally with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
 
Junior Evan Bennetch (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Baptist Bible School) finished with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ryan O'Keefe at No. 4 singles and junior Son Phan (Hanoi, Vietnam/Hanoi School for Gifted Students) added a 6-1, 6-1, win over Pryor to help tie the match at four. Collevechio notched the winning point, posting a 7-6 (6), 6-3 win over Steven Serras at No. 5.
 
The Warriors got back on the court on Sunday, Sept. 27, when they host King's (Pa.) in a 2:30 p.m. match at Bruce Henry Park.
