Warriors compete at Dickinson Long/Short

NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College cross country team competed at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Sept. 28. Sophomore Anna Summers (Paxinos, Pa./Shamokin Area) led the women's squad and freshman Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) led the men.
 
Summers posted a time of 27:10.6 on the 6K course to finish 95th, while freshman Sarah Donovan (Byron, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) was close behind, finishing in 27:24.8 to take 104th. Rounding out the top five on the 6K course, freshman Victoria Wilson (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) added a time of 28:54.9, sophomore Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabesic) notched a time of 29:09.4, and senior Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md./Southern) posted a time of 31:20.1.
 
In the 4K race, sophomore Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) notched a time of 18:56.4 to take 115th in a field of 144 runners.
 
On the men's side, Miller led the way by coming in 148th in a field of 188 runners with a time of 31:28.4. Also coming in the top five for the team in the 8K race were sophomore Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) (31:37.4), junior Will Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) (32:36.7), sophomore Josh Allabaugh (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) (33:05.1) and junior Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuce) (33:24.2).
 
In the 4K men's race, sophomore Austin Sungenis (Greencastle, Pa./Oakland Mills (Md.)) notched a time of 15:25.4 to finish 118th in the 139-person field. Freshman Bryant Dietrick (Muncy, Pa./Muncy Area) added a time of 15:35.4 and freshman John Woodburn (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) added a time of 16:10.2 to round out the team's top three at the event.
 
The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they head to the Paul Short Cross Country Invitational at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. The race is a preview of the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals, which will be held at Lehigh on Nov. 16.
