17 career bests highlight day for Warriors at LHU Invitational

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Led by career bests from 17 different runners, the Lycoming College cross country teams had a successful day at the Lock Haven University West Branch XC Invitational on an overcast Saturday morning, Sept. 21.
 
The women had nine career-bests, led by freshman Sarah Donovan (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen), who finished 137th in the field of 231 runners while posting a time of 25:41.70. Sophomore Anna Summers (Paxinos, Pa./Shamokin Area) added a career-best time of 26:25.80 to take 159th and junior Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) added a career-best 27:32.60. Sophomore Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabesic) notched a career-best 27:42.30 and sophomore Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) notched a career-best 27:59.30 to round out the top five.
 
Freshman Victoria Wilson (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) posted a career-best 28:03.20, senior Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md./Southern) notched a career-best 28:36.00 and freshman Jacqueline Croteau (Islip, N.Y./Islip) added a career-best 29:57.80.
 
In her first action of the year, senior Carmen Niemeyer (Brookings, S.D./Brookings) posted a career-best 31:39.80 at the Lock Haven course and senior Lindsey Wittlich (Muncy, Pa./Muncy Area) notched career-best 39:46.20.
 
The men had eight career-bests led by freshman Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central), as he notched a time of 30:11.40 in his third collegiate race to take 176th in the field of 244. Junior Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) posted a career-best time at the Lock Haven Course, finishing in 30:57.10, and sophomore Josh Allabaugh (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) added a career-best 31:22.30. Rounding out the top five, sophomore Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) notched a time of 31:41.10 and freshman Bryant Dietrick (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) finished in a career-best 32:14.40.
 
Other career-bests came from junior William Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) (32:27.50), sophomore Austin Sungenis (Greencastle, Pa./Oakland Mills (Md.)) (32:49.40), sophomore Isaac Pawling (Columbia, Pa./Manheim Central) (39:49.80) and junior Colton Dershem (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) (39:41.00).
 
The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they head to the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pa.
