DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – A strong top-10 performance from freshman Sarah Donovan (Bergen, N.Y./Byron-Bergen) helped pace the Lycoming College women's cross country team to a solid fourth-place finish in a field of nine team to kick off the team's season at the 6K Delaware Valley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 31. The men's squad finished seventh out of 10 teams on the 8K course.

Donovan, in her first collegiate race, notched a time of 28:59.39 to finish in 10th place, 12 seconds ahead of Cairn's Kathy Whylins, who finished 11th, and 1:27 behind the race winner, Kiersten Spencer of Valley Forge Military College.
 
Sophomore Anna Summers (Paxinos, Pa./Shamokin Area) also had a strong performance in her first race, finishing 23rd in the field of 81 runners with a time of 30:39.39. Rounding out the team's scoring, the Warriors had a three-woman contingent finish between 33rd and 35th, with sophomore Lindsay Decker (Shapleigh, Maine/Massabesic) posting a time of 31:33.39, sophomore Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) 31:40.39 and junior Alanna Cimerol (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) 31:43.39.
 
Senior Meredith Ellmore (Lothian, Md./Southern) posted a time of 32:30.56 to take 43rd and junior Kelsey Rawson (Waldorf, Md./North Point) finished in 32:34.74 to take 44th. Freshman Victoria Wilson (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland) finished in 33:47.58 and freshman Jacqueline Croteau (Islip, N.Y./Islip) added a time of 33:59.39.
 
On the men's side, freshman Jacob Miller (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) led the way, finishing 28th in a field of 95 runners, posting a time of 33:57.09 on the course.
 
Sophomore Joshua Allabaugh (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke Area) finished 36th with a time of 34:57.78 and senior Cory Trego (Pottstown, Pa./Coventry Christian School) was five spots behind in his first cross country race after notching a time of 35:36.78, leading a group of three straight Warriors to cross the finish line. Junior Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) notched a time of 35:40.78 and sophomore Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) crossed the line at 35:44.85
 
Shortly afterward, freshman Donald Keys (Erie, Pa./Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy) came in 46th with a time of 36:01.83 and junior William Dietz (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield Area) posted a time of 36:08.08.
 
Also running for Lycoming, sophomore Austin Sungenis (Greencastle, Pa./Oakland Mills (Md.)) crossed the line in 38:36.14 and sophomore Jacob McClain (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore) posted a time of 41:46.78. Junior Colton Dershem (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) notched a time of 43:24.10, sophomore Isaac Pawling (Columbia, Pa./Manheim Central) finished in 43:28.78 and junior John Paul Keith (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) in 43:29.78.
 
The Warriors get back on the course on Saturday, Sept. 7, when they head to the Dutchmen Cross Country Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon, Pa.
