Seniors lead Warriors to a 6-3 win over Lions

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – It was a flawless Senior Day for the Lycoming College men’s tennis team on Saturday, April 20, as seniors Jason Mifsud (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Cody Heffner (Williamsport, Pa./Muncy) each posted singles and doubles wins to lead the Warriors to a 6-3 win over Commonwealth Conference foe Albright College at Bruce Henry Park.
 
Mifsud, the program’s all-time leader since 1970 in singles (44) and combined (71) notched a pair of wins to improve to 9-0 in dual meets this year and 14-1 overall in singles play and to 4-9 in doubles. He notched a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ruicong Lui at No. 1 singles and teamed with Heffner to notch an 8-0 win over Lui and Ian Moore at No. 1 doubles.
 
Heffner, who is second in school history with 27 singles wins and tied for fourth with 21 doubles wins, also notched a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ian Moore at No. 2 singles.
 
Sophomore Cody Butler (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville Area) also added a pair of wins, as he teamed with junior Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Crest) to notch an 8-2 win over Alex Alleman and Terrance Goode at No. 3 doubles and added a 6-3, 6-2 win over Goode at No. 4 singles.
 
Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors, sophomore Joe Rudderow (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) added his first career singles win, an 8-5 win over Alleman at No. 6.
 
The Warriors get back on the court on Saturday, April 27, when they head to Hood for a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match.
