ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior Jason Mifsud (Montoursvile, Pa./Montoursville Area) became the third Lycoming College men’s tennis player in the past 30 years to reach 25 career doubles wins, but the Warriors fell to Lebanon Valley, 7-2, in both teams’ Commonwealth Conference opener on Thursday afternoon, March 28.

Mifsud joined brothers and fellow Montoursville Area graduates Robert (2007-11, 34) and David (2009-11, 27) Brown as the only players in school history to reach 25 doubles wins, as he teamed with senior Cody Heffner (Williamsport, Pa./Muncy) to post an 8-4 win at No. 1 against Ethan Grodzinski and Ryan Weitzel.

Mifsud added a 6-1, 6-2 win over Grodzinski, a two-time first-team all-conference selection at No. 1 singles to give Lycoming its only singles match win.

The Warriors fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth. The Dutchmen improved to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the Commonwealth.

Lycoming gets back on the court on Wednesday, April 3, when it hosts Juniata in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park.
