LEBANON, Pa. – Senior
Michelle Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg) just missed her second straight top 10 finish, taking 13
th to lead the Lycoming College cross country teams at the Dutchmen Cross Country Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Saturday, Sept. 8. Herman helped the Lycoming women to an eighth-place finish in a 12-team field, ahead of MAC opponents Wilkes and Albright.
Herman posted a time of 20:21.26, the fastest time of her career on a 5K course, surpassing her time of 20:42 from the East Stroudsburg Invitational in 2009.
Freshman
Rachel Salmon (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) took 57
th with a time of 22:56.64 and senior
Ashley Buck (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) added a time of 23:15.51 to take 64
th in her first collegiate race. Rounding out the scoring runners for Lycoming, freshman
Chelsea Henderson (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) took 83
rd with a time of 24:05.84 and sophomore
Heather Cunningham (York, Pa./Central York) added a time of 24:33.10 to take 91
st. Junior
Carmen Niemayer (Brookings, S.D./Brookings) added a time of 25:17.32, setting a new career best on a 5K course and sophomore
Meaghan Jones (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) crossed the line in 31:03.16.
On the men’s side, freshman
Peter Rittenhouse (Green Lane, Pa./Quakertown Community) led the team with a 50
th-place finish in a 104-runner field, as he posted a career-best 31:19.18. Sophomore
Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) took 61
st with a time of 32:22.85 and junior
Mike Puchalski (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) added a 71
st place finish with a time of 33:35.58. Sophomore
Rory McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) took 73
rd with a time of 33:35.58 and freshman
Josh Allabaugh (Nanticoke, Pa./Greater Nanticoke) rounded out the scorers with a 80
th-place finish in 34:27.54.

The Warriors get back on the course next weekend when they head to the Cougar Classic at Misericordia University for a 10:30 a.m. start.
