WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Freshman
BethAnn Schwoyer (Williamsport, Pa./Homeschooled) broke a 30-year-old school record in the 200-yard backstroke and the Lycoming College women’s swim team came back to take fourth place with a strong Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships that included three Warriors earning All-MAC honors in the 200-yard butterfly at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.
Schwoyer finished fourth, earning Second Team All-MAC honors, with a time of 2:12.22, shattering a 30-year old mark set by Denise Zimmerman, who earned All-American honors in the event in 1983. Zimmerman’s record time of 2:13.61 came in the conference championships in 1982.
Freshman
Danielle Loiseau (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield), freshman
Lexi Follweiler (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) and junior
Hope Weber (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) led the way for the Warriors in the 200-yard butterfly, as five Warriors scored points in the event.
Loiseau, after posting a season-best time of 2:14.94 in the preliminaries, came back to post a time of 2:16.00 in the finals to take second and earn first-team all-conference honors. Follweiller took fifth with a time of 2:18.48, as she dropped her seed time by six seconds to earn second-team honors with Weber, who posted a time of 2:22.69 to take sixth. It was Weber’s third straight All-MAC honors in the event, dropping her seed time by more than a second and a half.
Lycoming clinched fourth at the meet by placing fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay to finish the meet, two spots ahead of fifth-place Messiah with a time of 3:45.81. The team of freshman
Brigid Clark (Springfield, Pa./Wyndmoor), Loiseau, Follweiler and Hunsicker dropped their seed time by nearly five and a half seconds, despite three of the four just getting out of the water from the 200-yard fly.
The women’s team finished with 344 points, five points ahead of Messiah. Albright wrapped up its ninth women’s title with 636 points.
The men’s team finished fifth with 336 points, just behind Messiah, which had 343.5 points. Albright wrapped up its second straight title with 828 points. The Warriors took fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of freshman

T.J. Guminski (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and sophomore
Zack Brower (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg North) cut five seconds off their seed time, finishing in 3:19.31.
“We had a great MACs with some huge time drops and a number of new school records,” Lycoming head coach
Jerry Hammaker said. “I couldn’t be more proud of this fantastic group of young men and women. It’s been such a great team to coach this year. We are going to miss our four graduating seniors, but our team stays very strong with a nucleus of underclass swimmers. It’s great to know that we have so much opportunity for new swimmers next season. Everyone is proud of what we did this season. The returning swimmers are already looking forward to welcoming a strong class of new swimmers next fall and then working hard and moving up to compete for a championship next year.”
Junior
Lindsey Hunsicker (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) won the consolation final in the event, posting a time of 2:22.21 and junior
Elisa Becker (Reston, Va./South Lakes) took 13
th with a time of 2:29.32 to round out the Warriors’ quintet.
Clark earned her second individual Second Team All-MAC honors, as she took sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.55, as she dropped her previous season-best by 1.22.
On the men’s side in the event, Brower also earned his first career Second Team All-MAC honors in an individual event, posting a time of 48.93 to take sixth. His time of 48.77 in the preliminaries was a career-best, as he dropped his seed time by more than a second.
Three Warriors competed in the 200-yard breaststroke, led by senior
Joe Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley), who earned his fourth career Second Team All-MAC honors in the event with a time of 2:16.27.Guminski took seventh, posting a season-best time of 2:19.11. Sophomore
Jake Pelinsky (Southwick, Mass./Westfield) added a time of 2:27.66 to take 15
th.
Senior
Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) posted a career-best time in the 1,650-yard freestyle to finish in eighth-place, finishing in 17:43.94. He dropped 16 seconds off his previous best, which came as a sophomore at the championships.
Sophomore
Jack Port (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) also scored points in the event, as he dropped 14 seconds off his time in the 1,650-yard freestyle from 2011, as he posted a time of 18:34.27 to take 14
th. Senior
Derek Lupia (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) added a time of 19:13.64 to take 17
th in the event.
Freshman
Aaron Slagle (Waynesburg, Ohio/Sandy Valley) dropped his season-best time by nearly six seconds to take 13
th in the 200-yard backstroke. Marshall also took 16
th in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a season-best 50.97. In the 200-yard butterfly, Port posted a time of 2:15.60, dropping his seed time by three seconds en route to an 11
th-place finish.
Two others added points for the Warriors in the 200-yard backstroke, as junior
Caitlin DeAngelo (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg), took eighth with a time of 2:19.53 after she posted a career-best 2:17.73 in the preliminaries. Weber finished 13
th in the event with a time of 2:21.62, in the finals, dropping her season-best time by 2.5 seconds.
DeAngelo scored points for the Warriors in the 1,650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 20:06.65 to take 14
th in her first time swimming the event at the championships.
The Warriors broke four school records during the MAC Championships and all 10 relay squads earned All-MAC honors while 14 individuals earned All-MAC honors.
