ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College avenged a loss in the Commonwealth Conference Championship match in 2010, as the Blue Jays posted a 5-0 win over the Lycoming College men’s tennis team in the 2011 finals at Alumni Courts on Saturday,  April 30.

The Blue Jays (13-5 overall) won all three doubles matches to take the early 3-0 lead, despite a pair of competitive matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, and clinched the match with singles wins at No. 4 and No. 6.

Sophomore David Brown (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) held a 6-3, 3-3 lead over Eric Fritzges at No. 3 singles and senior Robert Brown (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) was in a  tight match with Josh Riehl at No. 2, falling in the first set, 1-6, before winning the second set, 6-1. The match was completed with Riehl holding a 3-1 lead in the third set.

The Warriors finished the season with an 8-4 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Commonwealth Conference, finishing in second place in the league to make the playoffs for the second year in a row.
