WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Once again, the nation’s top-ranked defense held an offense to under 200 yards, as the Lycoming College football team used two touchdowns from junior tight end
Greg Kovacs (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) to roll to a 42-10 win over King’s (Pa.) in Middle Atlantic Conference action on a sun-soaked Saturday, Oct. 8 at McCarthy Stadium.

Craig Needhammer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) brought it to the 5-yard line, sophomore
Matt Atkinson (Media, Pa./Penncrest) came out of a wildcat formation and got to the one-yard line before diving for the end zone. As he looked to stretch the ball across the plane, the ball came loose, but Kovacs made the recovery in the end zone, giving the Warriors a 9-3 lead.
After a three-and-out by the Monarchs, the Warriors used the legs of Needhammer to rush for 48 yards and three first downs on the next drive, setting up a 25-yard field goal from Czap. After a fourth-and-1 stop by the Warrior defense at their 45-yard line, junior

With the defense getting the ball back in three plays from King's again, the Warriors got the ball at the 35-yard line after a punt. A pass to Atkinson on third down extended the drive and junior
Parker Showers (Aspers, Pa./Biglerville) turned in a 22-yard run on the option to give the Warriors a 22-3 lead.
The Warriors started the half by shutting down King's in three plays before Klinger found Campman over the middle for a 49-yard strike on the opening offensive play for a touchdown to take a 29-3 lead. After each team had a stalled drive, the Warriors got the ball at the King's 39-yard line and drove in for a touchdown in seven plays, as Kovacs caught his first career receiving touchdown on a 17-yard pass on fourth-and-1 for the score.
The Warriors added a defensive score midway through the fourth quarter as freshman defensive back
Kody Flail (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) ripped the ball out of the King's running backs hands and strolled in for a 40-yard fumble recovery before most of the players on the field noticed he had the ball, giving the Warriors a 39-point lead. King's scored on their next drive, however, on a 33-yard post to Jordan Buford.
Klinger finished 9-of-20 passing for 172 yards with two touchdowns. For the fifth straight game, he had no interceptions.
