Lesley Larson, the Lycoming College men’s cross country team won a meet on Saturday, Oct. 22, finishing first in a field of three teams at the Cabrini Invitational at the tough Fairmount Park Course. In addition, junior
Michelle Herman (Altoona, Pa./Hollidaysburg) posted a first-place finish in the women’s 5K race with an unofficial time of 21:11.
The men’s team bunched together with five top-10 finishes to take the title with 25 points, finishing ahead of Cabrini (50) and Neumann (59).
Leading the way for the Warriors, freshman
Rory McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) finished fourth with a time of 31:04, sophomore
Mike Puchalski (Redlands, Calif./Redlands East Valley) added a fifth-place finish at 31:06. Freshman
Gerhardt Gerckens (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) took sixth with a personal-best 31:48 and freshman
Alex Bottorff (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) added a seventh-place finish with a time of 32:25. Senior
R.J. Wiechecki (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), who was honored before the race with a small ceremony as the team’s only senior, finished ninth with a time of 33:14.
Freshman
Chris McAtee (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) took 11
th with a personal-best 34:54 and junior
Kevan Guerin (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) took 17
th with a time of 36:40. Freshman
Jacob Kupperman (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) added a 20
th-place finish with a personal-best time of 38:03.

The Warriors will now get set for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, which are set for Saturday, Oct. 29, at Messiah College. The men’s race will begin at 11 a.m. and the women’s race will start at 12 p.m.
