DALLAS, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team closed out a perfect weekend on Sunday, posting its second straight 9-0 win, beating Misericordia on the road in non-conference action, not even letting the Cougars take a set in the match.

The Warriors (2-1 overall) started with three doubles wins as senior Alex Beattie (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) and sophomore Jason Mifsud (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) posted an 8-3 win at No. 1 against Salvatore Saraniti and Fred Hockenbury, the brotherly duo of senior Robert and sophomore David Brown (Montoursville,  Pa./Montoursville) added an 8-1 win over Frank Nutt and Brett Ford at No. 2 and senior Phillip Shannon (Cogan Station, Pa./Williamsport) and sophomore Cody Heffner (Williamsport, Pa./Muncy) added an 8-1 win over Nate Powers and Justin Muthler at No. 3.

In singles play, the Warriors kept rolling, as Robert Brown posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Hockenbury at No. 1, Beattie posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Nutt at No. 2 and Mifsud posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Saraniti at No. 3 to clinch the match. David Brown added a 6-2, 6-2 win over Powers at No. 4, Shannon posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Muthler at No. 5 and Heffner added a 6-2, 6-4 win over Matt Erney at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

The Warriors will now take three weeks off to prepare for the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships, starting on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the King’s/Wilkes tennis courts in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
