Men's tennis sweeps through DeSales 9-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team won its third consecutive match, defeating DeSales University 9-0 on Thursday, April 8. The Warriors dropped only eight games in the victory.

In the first flight of doubles, Alex Beattie and Jason Mifsud defeated Anthony Guerrieo and Thomas Grace 8-1. The pair of brothers Robert  and David Brown won their second-flight doubles match in straight sets 8-0 while Phillip Shannon and Cody Heffner took an 8-1 victory in the third flight.

Robert Brown won his first-flight singles match up over Dan Bullen in dominating 6-0, 6-0 fashion, giving Brown his first singles victory of the season. Like true doubles partners, Beattie and Mifsud both defeated their singles opponents 6-0, 6-1, with Beattie in second flight and Mifsud in third.

David Brown played like his older brother Robert and won his fourth-flight 6-0, 6-0 while Shannon grabbed a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the fifth flight. Heffner rounded out the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the sixth flight.

Lycoming (3-1) looks for its fourth-straight win when it hosts Alvernia University in a Commonwealth Conference contest on Saturday, April 10. The first doubles game will begin at 1 p.m. at Bruce Henry Park in Loyalsock Township, Pa.
