Men's tennis wins second match in a row 7-2 over Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Behind wins in both singles and doubles from three players, the Lycoming College men’s tennis team won its second match in a row 7-2 over Messiah College on Tuesday, April 6. The Warriors improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference with the victory.

Freshman David Brown won his singles match 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth flight, and paired up with older brother Robert Brown to win the second flight of doubles 8-3. In the fifth flight of singles, Phillip Shannon picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win and partnered with freshman Cody Heffner for an 8-3 doubles victory. Heffner won his sixth-flight singles match 6-1, 6-0.

The Warriors picked up a singles win in the second flight from Alex Beattie 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Jason Mifsud needed a tie break to claim his victory 7-5, 4-6 (10-8) in the third flight.

Lycoming is at home for its next match on Thursday, April 8 when it hosts DeSales University at Bruce Henry Park in Loyalsock Township, Pa. The contest is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
