Men's tennis blanks Albright in regular season finale

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s tennis team won its final regular season match 9-0 over Albright College on Saturday, April 24. Alex Beattie and David Brown did not drop a game in their respective matches.

Brown blanked his fourth flight opponent 6-0, 6-0, concluding his rookie campaign with an unblemished singles record of 10-0. Beattie picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the second flight. In the first flight, Robert Brown won 6-2, 6-2 while Jason Mifsud (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) dropped just one game, taking the victory 6-1, 6-0.

In the fifth and sixth flights, Phillip Shannon and Cody Heffner each won by forfeit.

Beattie paired up with Mifsud to win the first flight of doubles 8-3. The Browns joined forces to sweep the second flight 8-0. Shannon and Heffner won by forfeit in the third flight of doubles.

Lycoming’s next event will be the Middle Atlantic Conferences’ individual tournament, held at Wilkes University on Saturday and Sunday, May 1-2. The time has yet to be determined. As a team, Lycoming returns to Bruce Henry Park as the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Conference tournament, where it will host Messiah College on Wednesday, May 5. No time has been set.
