Men's tennis falls in season opener 5-4 to Susquehanna University

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – In a closely-fought match, the Lycoming College men’s tennis team fell 5-4 to Susquehanna University at the West Branch Tennis Club on Sunday, March 21. Junior Alexander Beattie picked up his first win of the season in the second flight.

Beattie won his match 6-3, 6-1 over Mats Haaland. Freshman David Brown won his first career match with Lycoming 6-2, 6-4 over William Mellor in the fourth flight.

In doubles action, brothers David and Robert Brown won their second flight matchup with Michael Hickey and Mellor 8-4. Lycoming also picked up a victory from Cody Heffner and Phillip Shannon 8-4 in the third flight.

Lycoming opens Commonwealth Conference play on Thursday, April 1 when it travels to Annville, Pa. to face Lebanon Valley College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
