WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -
In the midst of a three-game skid, the Lycoming College football team has plenty to accomplish in its final game of the year, when it makes the trek to Madison, N.J., for a 1 p.m. showdown with Middle Atlantic Conference opponent FDU-Florham on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Among the things the Warriors (5-4 overall, 3-3 MAC) will be looking for are securing the fifth winning overall and MAC seasons for the program since the turn of the millenium and the second in three years under head coach Mike Clark.

Individually for the Warriors, the game will be a record chase, as senior Josh Kleinfelter is six yards shy of his own career-high of 1,123 yards set as a sophomore and senior Chuck Bellitto needs four stops to reach second on the school’s all-time tackles list.

• Wagaman is third in school history with eight career 100-yard receiving games.
• Sophomore Corey Schuster and juniors Anthony Marascio and Chris Kish posted a season-high 13 tackles against Lebanon Valley.

Scouting Lycoming
Offense: Multiple/Pro-Style
With the top receiver in the MAC, the Warriors’ offense has taken on a different look in the past two weeks after leaning heavily to the run and senior Josh Kleinfelter during the early part of the season.

However, the Warriors currently have added some solid balance to the offensive attack, as they posted 136 yards on the ground and 256 in the air against Lebanon Valley. Senior Ryan Wagaman, who averages 91.6 receiving yards per game, caught nine passes in the game for 149 yards and sophomore Parker Showers added 75 yards on 14 carries to lead the Warriors.

Sophomore quarterback Zach Klinger has been consistent this year, as he is currently third in the league with a 121.2 passing efficiency.

Defense: 4-3
Even though the team has struggled the last three weeks, the Warriors still sit second in the MAC in scoring defense at 20.4 points per game and total defense at 322.9 yards per game. The Warriors have been one of the most aggressive units in the conference this year, forcing 10 fumbles and picking off 11 passes to sit second in the league in turnover margin at +1.00.

Sophomore linebacker Corey Schuster, junior linebacker Chris Kish and junior defensive end Anthony Marascio each posted a season-high 13 tackles for the Warriors and junior safety Ray Bierbach added 12 stops. Senior Chuck Bellitto notched eight tackles, including 0.5 for loss and a breakup. Senior Mike Tucker added four tackles and one for a loss.

Bellitto is leading the Warriors in tackles for the third straight year and he currently sits in 11th in the conference with 64 tackles. Bierbach is tied for the league lead with five interceptions.

Scouting FDU-Florham

The Devils’ offense is seventh in the MAC, scoring 20.8 points per game.

Senior quarterback Matt Jeffers is third in the league in passing yardage per game, tossing for 186.2 yards and completing 50.6 percent of his 269 attempts this year.

Senior Bayshawn Wells is ranked sixth in the league in all-purpose yards, averaging 123.1 yards per game, as he has racked up 210 yards rushing, 165 yards receiving and 733 yards on returns.

Doug Van Orden and Anthony Scamporino are the Devils’ top receivers, with Van Orden hauling in 29 catches for 333 yards and Scamporino taking in 20 catches for 236 yards.

Defense: 4-3
The Devils’ defense is eighth in the MAC, allowing 33.0 points and an average of 403.4 yards per game, which is seventh in the league. The Devils have allowed 40 points in back-to-back games, in losses to Albright and King’s.

The defense is led by a trio of players in the top 10 in the league in tackles, led by junior linebacker Steve Hoverson, who has 84 tackles and sits fourth in the league. Sophomore linebacker Charles Thomas is ninth in the conference with 68 tackles and senior defensive back Gino Abbate is 10th with 67 tackles.

Hoverson is tied for second in the league with 1.56 tackles for loss per contest and senior Matt Porricelli is tied for second with 1.22 passes defended per contest. Porricelli also has three interceptions on the season, which is tied for sixth in the legue.

The Hitman
Senior Chuck Bellitto posted eight tackles on Nov. 6 against Lebanon Valley to move closer to second in school history in career tackles, as he enters Saturday’s game with 269 stops, four away from the 273 set by Brett Zalonis (1994-97) and Joe Hirsch (1983-86).

One More Time
Senior Josh Kleinfelter will head into his last collegiate game looking to set new career records for rushing yards (3,570), rushing attempts (759) and all-purpose yards (4,376). He has run for more than 100 yards in 12 games in his career. Kleinfelter leads the Warriors in rushing and all-purpose yards for the fourth straight year, becoming the first Warrior running back in school history to do that in either category.

Wide Out
Senior wide receiver Ryan Wagaman has four games of more than 100 yards this season, a career-high for the Aspers, Pa., native and the best mark in the MAC this season. The 6-3 wide-out is tied for fifth in school history in the category, as Tim Dumas posted seven 100-yard games in 1998 to hold the record. Wagaman is the first receiver since Ricky Lannetti in 2003 to post four 100-yard games in a season.

Wagaman has led the Warriors in receptions in each of the last three years. He is the first Lycoming receiver to do that since Tim Dumas from 1997-99 and he is the third in school history reach that honor.

All About Academics
Senior #T.J. Chiarolanza# continued to reel in some impressive accolades, as he earned a slot on the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Football First Team. Chiarolanza is second on the team in scoring with 45 points from a 7-of-8 effort in field goal attempts and a 24-of-27 mark in point after attempts. He is third in the Middle Atlantic Conference in scoring by place-kickers and he is averaging 57.9 yards on 38 kickoffs. He has earned two mentions from the Fred Mitchell Award as a top performer in the collegiate ranks in the months of September and October.

Looking Ahead
With a defense that is currently second in scoring and total defense, the Warriors appear to have a bright future on that side of the ball. The team has just one senior (Chuck Bellitto) and three juniors (Ray Bierbach, Chris Kish, Anthony Marascio) amongst its defensive starters. There are only four seniors on the Warriors’ defensive two-deep.
