WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -
After winning the first 21 meetings in the all-time series against Lebanon Valley, the Lycoming College football team has fallen in three of the last four battles. The Warriors will look to get their mojo back, snapping the Dutchmen jinx and a two-game skid today in a battle to stay in the upper half of the Middle Atlantic Conference standings on Senior Day.

Sixteen Warrior seniors will say goodbye to David Person Field, including several that have keyed the team’s success in the past four years, including three-time All-MAC selection Josh Kleinfelter, two-time All-MAC honorees Chuck Bellitto and Ryan Wagaman and one-time All-MAC selection Adam Paulhamus. The Warriors (5-3 overall, 3-2 MAC) will look to guarantee the second winning season in the seniors’ careers on Saturday.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are looking to finish with a perfect record at David Person Field for the second time in head coach #Mike Clark’s# tenure (2008) and the 12th time in the field’s 49-year history.
• Senior Josh Kleinfelter leads the MAC in rushing, averaging 134.8 yards per game.
• Senior Ryan Wagaman leads the MAC in receiving yards, averaging 84.5 per game.
• Kleinfelter passed Brian Thompson (1995-98) for the school’s career all-purpose yardage crown at Wilkes and now has 4,337 yards.
• Senior Chuck Bellitto needs 12 tackles to move into a tie for second in school history in career tackles with Brett Zalonis (1994-97) and Joe Hirsch (1983-86).
• Wagaman’s 15 receptions at Wilkes are the most in a MAC game since Ricky Lanetti caught 16 at Delaware Valley in 2003.

Scouting Lycoming
Offense: Multiple/Pro-Style
With the top receiver and top rusher in the Middle Atlantic Conference, the Lycoming offense has crept near the top of the league in scoring offense, sitting third at 26.1 points per game after finishing seventh by posting 20.1 points in 2009.

Seniors Josh Kleinfelter and Ryan Wagaman have rewritten the Warriors’ record book throughout the 2010 season, with Kleinfelter reaching school records in rushing and all-purpose yardage during the season. The dangerous running back also posted a school-record of five straight 100-yard rushing games and he still leads the MAC in rushing with an average of 134.8 yards per game. Wagaman is one of four receivers in school history to reach 2,000 career yards and one of three to reach 150 receptions. The 6-3 Aspers, Pa., native leads the MAC with an average of 84.5 yards per game.

Defense: 4-3
Even after allowing 30 points in each of the past two weeks, the Warriors still sit second in the MAC in scoring defense at 19.5 points per game and third in total defense at 314.1 yards per game. The Warriors have been one of the most aggressive units in the conference this year, forcing 10 fumbles and picking off 10 passes to sit second in the league in turnover margin at +1.50.

The team’s frontline has stood solid all season, allowing just 106.4 yards on the ground per game. That has forced opponents to turn to the air for much of the season, with senior safety Chuck Bellitto leading the team in tackles for the third straight year with 56. Junior safety Ray Bierbach has been just as solid, as he is tied for the league lead with five interceptions and he tops the conference with 13 passes defended. Sophomores Matt Talerico and Ryan Fenningham are each tied for fourth in the category, with each posting nine passes defended.

Scouting Lebanon Valley
Offense: Multiple
With an offense that averages 349.2 yards per game, Lebanon Valley sits fifth in the league with an average of 24.1 points per game.

The Dutchmen are led by their electrifying running back, junior Ben Guiles, who is second in the league with an average of 129.1 yards per game. Guiles is third in the league with 13 touchdowns.

In the Dutchmen’s wild 42-38 win against Widener on Oct. 30, quarterback Caleb Fick threw for 193 yards and a career-high four touchdowns to go with a rushing score. Ed Tobin caught a career-best seven catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Fick is currently seventh in the MAC with a 129.9 passing yards per game average and a 143.9 total offense per game average.

Defense: 3-4
Standing just below the Warriors with the MAC’s third-best average of 27.0 points per game, the Dutchmen have played solid bend-but-don’t-break defense during its current three-game winning streak, in which the margin of victory in the three wins was just 16 points combined.

Senior Zach Bleiler is the league’s defending Defensive Player of the Week after recovering two fumbles, including one for a touchdown, and picking up two sacks and three tackles for a loss against Widener.

The LVC defense got plenty of big plays in the game, led by Jason Gigous’ 20 tackles. The Dutchmen made two big fourth-quarter plays, first on Nic Shirey’s midfield interception to set up Fick’s go-ahead touchdown, and then Alex Gilchrist posted a sack on a key down during Widener’s final drive. Gigous leads the Dutchmen and he sits fourth in the MAC with an average of 9.5 tackles per game.

More Records Fall
Senior Josh Kleinfelter ran the ball 14 times for 56 yards to lead the Warriors, as he became the school’s career all-purpose yards leader with his first carry against Wilkes on Oct. 30. He finished the game with 4,337 career all-purpose yards, passing the mark set by Brian Thompson (1995-98) of 4,281 yards. Kleinfelter also holds the school record for all-time rushing yards, heading into today’s game with 3,531 career yards and he is three touchdowns away from the school record of 29 set by Tim Deasey from 1998-01.

Wide Out
Senior wide receiver Ryan Wagaman caught a career-high 15 passes for a career-high 176 yards to help him wrap up his second MAC Honor Roll nod of the season on Oct. 31. The 15 passes caught were the second-most in school history and the most in the MAC since Lycoming’s Ricky Lannetti set the school record with 16 receptions against Delaware Valley in 2003. Wagaman caught a 23-yard touchdown, moved the chains with first-down receptions 11 times and added nine that went for double-figure yardage. The 15 catches were just two shy of conference record as well as being tied for ninth-most in Division III this season.

Along the way, he reached a host of milestones, as he became the fourth receiver in school history to reach 2,000 (2,049) career yards and the third to reach 150 (153) career receptions. He already has a career-high 676 yards on just 42 catches.

The Hitman
Senior Chuck Bellitto posted seven tackles on Oct. 30 at Wilkes to move into fourth in school history with 261 career tackles, passing Bill Small (1988-91), who posted 256 in his career. Bellitto, who has earned two All-Middle Atlantic Conference selections in his career, leads the Warriors in tackles with 56, the third straight season he has led the team in the category after posting 86 stops as a sophomore and 84 as a junior.

Looking For Perfection
For the second time in head coach #Mike Clark’s# three-year tenure, the Warriors have the opportunity to finish the season perfect at David Person Field. The Warriors, who are 10-4 (.714) at home under Clark, have outscored opponents in the friendly confines, 128-65, in 2010, posting wins over Westminster, No. 13 Ithaca, King’s and Widener. Lycoming has enjoyed 12 perfect seasons at David Person Field since its opening in 1962.
