Lingold named Lycoming women’s volleyball’s head coach

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – After three years as an assistant coach at Milsaps College, Hannah Lingold will return to her Pennsylvania roots as the fifth head women's volleyball coach in Lycoming College's history, Director of Athletics Glenn Smith '07 announced on Monday, March 2.

"Following an extensive search, I am thrilled that Hannah will be joining our team as our head women's volleyball coach," Smith said. "Hannah demonstrated her knowledge of the sport and ability to develop players throughout the interview process. Her experiences at Milsaps have prepared her to recruit talented student-athletes to Lycoming, support them throughout their time on campus, and further our competitiveness in the Landmark Conference. I am excited for the ways she will elevate our program!"

Lingold replaces Tim McMahon, who retired as Lycoming's women's volleyball coach after 25 seasons, 354 wins and two conference titles in December. She is the first full-time head coach in the women's volleyball program's history.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to be named head volleyball coach at Lycoming College," Lingold said. "I want to thank Athletic Director Glenn Smith and the hiring committee for their trust and belief in my vision for this program. I am eager to build a competitive, disciplined, and connected team culture rooted in accountability, hard work and genuine relationships. My goal is to develop student-athletes that grow not only as competitors, but as confident leaders who represent the college with pride both on and off the court. I look forward to investing in our athletes and continuing the program's tradition of being a prideful asset to the Lycoming College campus and community."

Lingold, a native of Emmaus, Pa., and a Lock Haven University graduate, spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Milsaps in Jackson, Ms. While at Milsaps, she helped the Majors to more than 50 wins and a conference tournament appearance while also working with 10 players that earned CSC Academic All-District status and eight that earned All-Southern Athletic Association honors.

While at Milsaps, she also served as an assistant track and field coach, working with the throwers, and also worked as an athletics department assistant as well as serving as a advisor to SAAC.

A 2023 Lock Haven University graduate, Lingold was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball for the Bald Eagles as a middle hitter. She earned a Bachelor of Science in health and physical education, graduating cum laude, and was also a member of the track and field team.

What they are saying about Coach Lingold:
"Hannah has been an invaluable part of our program for the past three seasons. She is a tireless worker who kept us organized and connected, while always having an energetic and warm personality. She will be deeply missed and hard to replace, but we are thrilled to see her step into a head coaching role and know she will do great things in this next chapter."
- Jamie Fisher, Milsaps College head volleyball coach

"Coach Lingold is a very organized, detail-oriented coach. Her ability to connect and communicate with her athletes is special. I know that she will be a great head coach."
- Brandon Beckett, Milsaps College head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach

"Coach Hannah Lingold is a great coach because she holds you accountable, explains skills clearly, and motivates you to improve both as an individual player and as a member of the team."
- Allison Baer, senior volleyball team member, Milsaps College

"Coach Hannah is a great person on and off the field/court. When I first met Coach Hannah, she was just the assistant volleyball coach, but with her knowledge of throwing, she took her the time to come and give us pointers about throwing. She didn't need to, but she did it for the betterment of the track and field program, even if it meant sacrificing her own free time. Coach Hannah is a person who has impacted everyone on this campus in the best way, from her smile and friendship to her immeasurable dedication. She will be a great addition to your college and athletic department."
- Carter Davis, junior track and field team member, Milsaps College
