Warriors fall in five vs. Wilkes

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—The Lycoming College volleyball team rallied to force a fifth set, but came up short in a 3-2 defeat (25-23, 13-25, 25-17, 24-26, 15-10) against Wilkes University in Landmark Conference play on Friday night, Oct. 24 at Lamade Gym.

Wilkes (14-13, 2-4) survived a furious rally from Lycoming (13-13, 2-6) to hold on for a first set victory, then the two squads traded convincing set wins. The Warriors forced a deciding fifth set by holding off a Colonels' rally in the fourth set, but Wilkes controlled the final set to take the match.

The Warriors were led by a trio of first years: Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley), Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y. / Warwick Valley), and Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wa. / Sultan), who each recorded 12 kills. Skeith added a career-high 26 assists, while Wenger tallied a career-best 23 digs. First year Addison Morgan (Bethlehem, Pa. / Northampton) added 11 assists while sophomore Jadea Toth (Williamsport, Pa.) had 20 digs of her own.

Mia Leon led Wilkes with 22 kills, while Rachael Anderson added 23 assists, and Annalyse Santowasso posted 28 digs to lead the Colonels.

The Warriors will finish the regular season tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 25 at Lamade Gym, where they will celebrate Senior Day against Susquehanna University. The match will get underway at noon.
