WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Sophomore linebacker Khalil Johnson (Laurel, Md. / Atholton) led a swarming defensive effort in a 38-12 win at the Catholic University of America on Sunday, Nov. 1, earning Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Monday, Nov. 3.
Johnson racked up a season-high 13 tackles, including two tackles for loss in the victory over the Cardinals. He was an instrumental piece of a Warriors defense that held Catholic to just 65 rushing yards and racked up seven tackles for loss, four sacks, recovered two fumbles, and blocked an extra point, helping Lycoming clinch a postseason berth.
This is the third week in a row with a conference award winner for the Warriors, after sophomore Joe Lyons III (Margate City, N.J. / Atlantic City) and sophomore Daniel Atsou (Capitol Heights, Md. / Suitland), took the Offensive and Defensive Athlete honors last week. First year Yahseam Stokes (Philadelphia, Pa. / MaST Community Charter) earned the Defensive Athlete award and senior Ryan Pentz (Mill Hall, Pa. / Central Mountain) took Specialist of the Week honors on Oct. 20, while earlier in the season, junior Terrence Oliver (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) earned Offensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 22 and Oct. 7 and first-year Christon Mitchell-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan) was Defensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 7.
This is the second time in almost exactly a year that Johnson has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, having previously taken the honor on Nov. 5, 2024.
The Warriors will have a bye week before finishing the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Huntingdon, Pa. with a tilt against Juniata that will get underway at 1 p.m.
