Crebs wins title, six Warriors place at ONU Invitational

ADA, Ohio – Senior 197-pounder Gable Crebs (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) won his second straight Ohio Northern University Invitational title and crossed 90 career wins to lead the Lycoming College wrestling team, which had six grapplers place to help it finish seventh in a 14-team field.

Crebs, ranked 14th in the nation by the NWCA, cruised to the title as he improved to 92-26 in his career, notching a 13-0 major decision over Olivet's Lloyd Ruesink before a 16-0 technical fall of Otterbein's Caiden Hooks in the quarterfinals. He added a 17-1 technical fall of Dubuque's Tyler Thurston, ranked third in the Lower Midwest by the NWCA, in the semifinals and finished the tournament with a 39-second pin of Heidelberg's Aidan Belgiorno, the 42nd pin of his career, which is third-most in program history.

Junior 125-pounder Kaden Majcher (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) took second, sophomore 174-pounder Eli Crum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) was fourth, junior 133-pounder Thomas Conselyea (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) took sixth, sophomore 184-pounder Jimmy Ellis (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) finished seventh and first-year 197-pounder Ivan Neal (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) finished eighth.

Majcher improved to 12-3, decking his first four opponents in the tournament (Tiffin's Dalton Boyd, Adrian's Max Mader, Olivet's Sam Schreiber and ONU's Colin Mellot, ranked fourth in the Central Region) before dropping a 15-8 decision in the final to Division II competitor Anthony Aniciete.

Crum, the top seed at 174, used a pair of tech falls and a pin to reach the semifinals, where ONU's regionally-ranked Adam Myers edged him, 8-6. Crum rebounded with another tech fall to finish his day 4-1 to take fourth.

Conselyea rebounded from an opening-round defeat by winning his next four matches en route to his sixth-place finish at 133. Ellis went 3-2 en route to his seventh-place finish, as he posted two falls and a technical fall during the tournament and Neal won a pair of matches to take eighth, posting a pin and a 9-5 decision.

Tiffin, ranked 12th in Division II, won the tournament team title with 219 points and 18th-ranked Ohio Northern was second with 166.5 points.

The Warriors get back in action on Sunday, Dec. 17, when they head to Oswego for a 2:30 p.m. dual meet.
