CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Lycoming College wrestling team won two matches during the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships at Allegiant Entergy PowerHouse on Friday, March 13, helping the team finish 48th in the field of 71 teams.

Seeded 11th at 174 pounds, junior Nolen Zeigler (Loysville, Pa./West Perry) was defeated by Luther's Bryce McDonough in the opening round. He rebounded with second- and third-period takedowns to beat New England College's Joseph Bolduc, 8-1, but in the round of 12, he was pinned by fifth-seeded three-time All-American Jake Deguire of Springfield in 2:07.

Zeigler has won two matches in his two trips to the NCAA Championships and reached the round of 12 two years in a row. He is 64-11 with 29 pins in his two years with the Warriors.

Senior Eli Crum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs), who entered the tournament unseeded at 184 pounds, opened the tournament in the preliminary round, with a narrow defeat to Roanoke's Hunter Moore, 7-6, before he rebounded with a second-period pin of Coast Guard's Caden Stout in 4:36, turning a turn into a pin late in the period. Loras' Landry Baker ended Crum's run at the tournament with an 11-3 major decision.

Crum finished the season with a 28-7 record with 13 falls. He finished his career with a 104-41 record, finishing 10th in program history in wins. He set the program record with 40 technical falls and his 38 pins are eighth in program history.

Junior Kaiden Wagner (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area), seeded 10th at 165 pounds, engaged in a 10-minute match with seventh-seeded Brayden Peet of Wis.-Whitewater in the opening round of the tournament. Through the opening seven minutes, each registered an escape, but no other scoring and that continued through the first overtime. In the tiebreaker round, Wagner choose down first and was unable to get an escape and Peet chose neutral and warded off a takedown for the last 30 seconds to earn a ride time point and take the 2-1 decision. In the consolation bracket match, Ohio Northern's Ben Hegler used two takedowns and two escapes in an 8-3 decision to end Wagner's season.

Wagner, a two-time NCAA qualifier, finished the year 14-3 and with a 25-7 career record.
