Molesky inducted into West Branch Valley Hall of Fame

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College's Mark Molesky '79 was one of 10 honored as inductees into the West Branch Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame during the annual Hall of Fame banquet at the Genetti Hotel & Suites in Williamsport, on Sunday night, Nov. 12.
 
The induction class included living inductees: Dominick Bragalone, D.J. Flick, Carter "Butch" Giles, Tina Martin, Christa Matlack, Mark Molesky, Dick Rhoades, Heidi (Loudenslager) Russell and Von Walker and deceased inductee David Scott.
Molesky is the 13th person associated with Lycoming men's basketball inducted into the Hall of Fame, which enjoyed its 49th annual induction ceremony on Sunday night. Don Manno '36 (1974), Vince Leta '54 (1982), John Lindemuth '27 (1987), Coach Dutch Burch (1991), Albert Wilson '57 (1996), Ron Travis '66 (2000), Coach Bob Smith (2001), Ed Kriner '48 (2003), Carl Nolan '54 (2008), Bill Graff '56 (2008) and Walter Dunston '57 (2011) have previously been honored.
 
Molesky led Lycoming College in scoring three times from 1975-79, reaching 1,000 points in 67 games, as he is still sixth in program history with 1,454 points. A First Team All-MAC Northern Division in 1978, Molesky averaged 19.3 points per game. He was inducted into the Lycoming Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989.
 
Molesky is still Montoursville Area High School's all-time leading scorer in boys' basketball with 1,697 career points. He scored 702 points (25.1 per game) as a senior in 1974-75, setting a Lycoming County record and was named the West Branch Conference MVP in 1975. He earned three all-conference honors and two honorable mention all-state selections, leading Montoursville to a 76-6 record from 1972-75, three league titles, two district titles and two appearances in the Eastern Region semifinals.
 
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1979, Molesky began a career as an elementary school teacher in the Montoursville school district and he also had two stints as the boys' basketball coach as well as serving as a PIAA basketball and softball official, working basketball for 35 years and softball for more than 20, umpiring a state final in 1992.
