YORK, Pa. – Nearly four seconds ahead of her competition with a time of 1:03.88, junior
Katherine Brown (Glenside, Pa./Abington) set a new Middle Atlantic Conference Championships record in the 100-yard breaststroke and secured a NCAA Division III 'B' cut, to win the Lycoming College women's swim teams first MAC title in 11 years to highlight the third day of the MAC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Graham Aquatic Center.
Brown's win is the first women's swimming individual title since Stacy Flick won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke in 2011. She broke her own school record of 1:04.68 that she set at the Diamond City Invitational in November and also broke the MAC Championships record of 1:04.00 flat set in 2021 by Marisa Krauss. Her 1:03.88 is the 13
th-fastest time in Division III this year and well below the NCAA 2020 invite time of 1:04.33.
"I went out in prelims and I was really unhappy with the swim," Brown said. "I was hoping to be under the 1:05.00 mark. I used that in my swim tonight and it fueled it a little bit. I went out and swam my race and it turned out really well. It's awesome. I am so happy right now."
Sophomore
Carter Branigan (Lansdown, Pa./Commonwealth Charter) also set a new school record as he swam a 1:55.83 in the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries, breaking his own mark of 1:57.16 that he set at the 2021 virtual MAC Championships. In the 200-yard butterfly finals, Branigan placed fourth with a time of 1:58.90. He was joined in the scoring by junior
Reilly Gluz (Syracuse, N.Y./Williston Northampton), who placed 13
th at 2:05.31.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Branigan, sophomore

Jake Booth (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) also set a school-record, Lycoming's sixth of the championship, as it placed seventh with a time of 7:19.51.
