Yocum posts back-to-back all-conference honors at MACS

LEBANON, Pa. – Earning back-to-back all-conference honors, sophomore Katryn Yocum (Carlisle, Pa./Boiling Springs) was named to Third Team All-Middle Atlantic Conference, as she placed 22nd with the second best-time in program history and the fifth-best finish at the MAC Championships to lead the Lycoming College cross country teams on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
 
Yocum finished with a career-best time of 23:56.7, beating last year's time of 24:34.0 at the championships, as she joined Kaylee Long's (23:48.7, 2019) as the only runners in program history to cross the 24-minute barrier.
 
Three Warriors finished in the top-100 in the 135-runner field - Yocum, junior Ali Clemens (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) placed 85th with a 27:04.6 time, and senior Claire Shaffer (Sayre, Pa./Sayre Area) placed 99th with a 28:13.7 time. Junior Madisyn Neal (Roaring Branch, Pa./Canton) placed 106th at 28:28.5, sophomore Isabella Fave (Middleburg, Pa./Midd-West) placed 123rd with a  career-best 30:49.6, junior Madeline O'Conner (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) placed 124th with a personal-best 31:25.2, senior Mariah Rovenolt (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) placed 132nd in a career-best 34:28.5, senior Ha-anh Lamont (Hanoi, Vietnam/Olympia Schools) placed 133rd in a career-best 35:30.2, and junior Rachel DeWolfe (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) placed 134th at 39:46.4. O'Conner, Rovenolt, Lamont, and DeWolfe all posted career-best times.
 
The Warriors finished 15th out of 16 teams with 349 points. The men's team placed 16th with 434 points.
 
First-year Kenneth Draper (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) who placed 74th with a time of 28:12.0, the ninth-best time in the program, led the men's side of the team.
 
Senior Garrett Lee (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) placed 126th at 31: 53.4, senior Caleb Reigle (Mount Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) placed 127th at 32:08.4, sophomore Sean McKenna (Campbell, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) placed 139th at 33:57.6, sophomore Nate Noel (Sparta, N.J./Sussex Tech) plaed 144th at 36:54.7, sophomore Brandon Chiguichon (Chicago, Ill/ITW David Speer Academy) placed 147th at 39:50.9, and first-year Blake Huffman (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) placed 149th at 45.08. Draper, Lee, Reigle, McKenna, and Chiguichon all ran career-best times.
 
Widener University won the women's portion of the MAC Championships with 40 points as Widener's Gabriella Nye won the title with a time of 22:30.6. Messiah University won the men's portion of the championship for a second year in a row with 40 points as Logan Horst of Messiah took the individual title, running a 24:54.3.
 
The Warriors return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12, when they head to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Lock Haven, Pa. The women will run at 11 a.m. and the men will begin at 12 p.m.
